7 welcoming cats originating from Japan appear in rainbow colors. The artist illustrates messages with the stars expressing the glitter of life produced by welcoming cats and with the white pigeons as symbol of peace.
The artist expresses the significance of diversity by loading the message: “Let’s understand what kind of things the people with diverse cultural backgrounds are doing in this world on the Earth.”
However, while painting the piece, Ukraine and Russia entered into a state of war, and the meanings of the blue and aqua changed. Since blue resembles the color of the Russian flag and aqua that of the Ukrainian, the artist has intended to convey the meaning of anti-war feelings through the two ats in these colors. A sunflower which is the national flower of both Russia and Ukraine is painted between the blue cat and the aqua one.
Moreover, in order to make note of the fact that at the time of production of the work the world was facing a critical phase, the wishes for peace have been written in the eyes in Japanese, English and Ukrainian.
The artist wishes that those who have an opportunity to look at this picture may realize the fact that an atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima and that at the time of production of the work in 2022 a war was still going on, and wishes also that they may think about those facts in one way or another.
Born in Hiroshima, 1982. Obtained diploma of Master of Arts from Graduate School of Hiroshima City University. Studied traditional Japanese brushwork at the University and the production required for BA was awarded the status of “Procurement”, equivalent to the top of class. After graduation, was awarded the Quasi-grand prix in the “Debut” or Exhibition of Public Invitation, hosted by the “Arts Monthly”.
He produces on the subjects of environment and religious outlook in Japan by incorporating in his work the elements considered as characteristics of comics, games and animations.
Activities expand their fields with no regard to national borders and develop in diversified sectors, e.g., offering original drawings to “Nagakusa Embroidery”, traditional craftwork in Kyoto; collaboration with “Sawa Takai”, fashion brand of New York, or with “MEMUSE” promoted by Aizawa Risa of the idol group, Denpa Gumi inc.; and launching the fashion brand “SUGOI-WAKAI” together with Ochiai Yoichi, media artist and with Kushino Shinya, designer.
Lately, he produced and installed an immense mural painting on “ASOBIRU”, an entertainment complex immediately neighboring Yokohama Station.
